Researchers Juliane Hollender, Ole Seehausen, Bernhard Truffer and Urs von Gunten from the aquatic research institute Eawag are among the "highly cited researchers 2020".

The latest university ranking from Times Higher Education (THE) puts ETH Zurich at 14th place in a worldwide comparison. It thus retains its position as the best university in Switzerland. The University of Oxford remains the world leader.

ETH Zurich held its 6th place in the new QS World University Ranking. According to QS, it remains the top-ranked university in continental Europe confirming its position among the leading universities worldwide.

The university analysts at QS have published their 2020 rankings by subject: ETH Zurich is in the top ten in 13 categories – and has been top in one for several years now.

Empa researchers Bernd Nowack and Maksym Kovalenko are among the most cited in the world. According to this year's list of "Highly Cited Researchers", the publications of the two Empa researchers in their respective research fields are among the top percentiles of all papers most frequently cited worldwide.
